Year 5 Celebrations
AUTUMN TERM
Year 5 have been very busy this half term! In science, we have been looking at different types of scientists and learning what they do. We ended the half term by being forensic scientists and using our skills to solve a crime. We were lucky enough to also have a visit from a police detective who talked to us about how he solves real-life crimes.
Our topic has been Ancient Egypt. We have been learning about their beliefs, the Gods and mummification. We recreated an ancient tomb in our classroom and completed a descriptive piece of writing about what we found inside. The topic was finished off with an Egyptian day where we made headdresses, neck collars and went on a hunt along the River Nile to find Osiris's missing body parts!
Finally, we took part in a theatre workshop with the Arts Council which ended with the show that we had written being performed by professional actors with our own backdrops which was really exciting!
