Year 4 Celebrations
AUTUMN TERM
In Year 4 at William Read, we have been learning all about Rainforests in Geography. We have learnt about the geographical location of continents and countries and their climates depending on their location. We have learnt about the climate and locations of rainforests, their layers and the animals that live there.
In Science, we have been learning all about states of matter such as solid, liquid and gas. We learnt about how the particles are arranged depending on their state, how we can use melting and freezing to change their state and all about condensation and evaporation.
We have been learning about William Shakespeare and his famous work. We have studied his play, 'A Midsummer Nights Dream', and created 3D dioramas to recreate some of the scenes from the play. We also enjoyed making our very own quills and using them to write famous quotes from Shakespeare's plays.
SPRING TERM
In science this half term, we have been learning all about electricity and creating electric circuits. In order to work safely with electricity, we needed to understand the dangers and how to keep ourselves safe. We created our own electricity safety posters to help keep safe when using electricity.
Year 4 have been learning all about the Romans in their history lessons. They have enjoyed researching about the Roman way of life, the Roman Army, Roman battles and lots of other important Roman moments.
We even got to visit Colchester Castle, which is where the Temple of Claudius once stood, and we explored lots of ancient Roman artefacts there.
In design and technology, we designed and created our very own Roman shields so that we could re-enact the famous Battle of Watling Street between the Roman army and the fierce Boudicca and her Iceni Tribe.
