AUTUMN TERM

This half term, our topic has been 'Heroes'. We have been learning about lots of different real life heroes and discussed what makes a hero. We kickstarted our topic with a fun packed 'Hero Day' where we had the opportunity to become nurses and doctors, firefighters and the police force. 

We have learnt all about some famous nurses in history, including Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, and had the chance to explore some historical artefacts from hospitals. We were very lucky to travel back in time to meet a special visitor, Florence Nightingale, and listen to her story.  

We learnt that Florence Nightingale's nickname was lady with the lamp, so we created our very own lamps in DT. 

In art, we have been practising our sketching skills and sketched our very own portraits of Florence Nightingale.
