AUTUMN TERM

In Understanding of World, we have started school with our first focus 'All about me'. We have enjoyed looking in the mirrors to help us paint a self portrait. We spoke about how some of us have different eye colour, hair colour and skin tones and how all of these differences make us unique. We have also enjoyed sharing who is in our family and creating button pictures. We also explored what we would like to be when we grow up and spoke about what jobs the adults in our family do.

In Art, we have have been learning about primary and secondary colours. We enjoyed learning about the colours of the rainbow and creating a rainbow picture by following the different colour lines and sticking squares on the lines to create rainbows. We also explored what happens when you mix colours through painting our hands two different colours and mixing the colours by rubbing our hands together! It was fun to try and guess what colour we were going to create!

In October, Reception took part in our Sponsored Bounce where the children enjoyed trying to bounce as many times as they could in 3 minutes! We were able to raise over £1000 for resources inside and outside! We were able to get:

Wooden platforms and balance beans which the children can arrange in any form. The children are able to develop their teamwork skills, communication skills and allow them to take risk in a safe way, two new balance bikes, magnetic writing boards, hammers and pins artwork set, pegs and boards, threading boards, aqua draw set and light-up writing boards.

SPRING TERM

Teddy Bears Picnic
We had lots of fun today taking part in our teddy bears picnic! Throughout this week, we have been learning about different famous teddy bears including Paddington Bear and Winnie thePooh! We took part in a range of activities today including making a teddy puppet, icing biscuits and having a pooh stick race! After lunch, we found some footprints in our classroom from Winnie the Pooh, who gave us some delicious treats for our picnic and some teddy friends for our classroom!
