Sports Premium & PE

Sports Premium

Our school is continuing to subscribe to the Castle Point & Rochford School Sport Partnership  based at The Deanes School. By using economies of scale and working in partnership with other local schools we are able to access a range of services through the specialist staff based at The Deanes School who focus on the delivery of Primary PE and Sport Premium outcomes.

Click here to view the School Sport Level Agreement for the Academic Year 2022-2023.  There are five clearly defined headings of Physical Education, School Sport, Health and Wellbeing, Infrastructure and Physical Activity.

William Read Primary Academy invests a portion of the Primary PE and Sport funding in working in partnership and collaboration with The Deanes through the Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership to access a variety of services to benefit students and staff of the school. This allows us to be part of an infrastructure of 50 schools benefiting from guidance and development around high quality physical education, increasing the range and breadth of ‘School Sport’ opportunities and educating young people regarding healthy and active lifestyles.

Finally, we are investing time and expertise in to our longer term planning and mapping of PE as a vital curriculum subject. We believe this will have a major impact on staff and students both now and in the future.

PE

Our PE vision is to ensure all pupils enjoy sport and develop positive attitudes to physical education and sport. We aim to:

  • Encourage pupils to participate in internal and external clubs in order to achieve their potential;
  • Encourage pupils to develop their competitive nature and team spirit;
  • Provide opportunities to participate in high quality sports lessons and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

We are proud to have earned the School Games Award.
